Aston Villa beat Lazio 3-0 at the Bescot Stadium in the club's penultimate pre-season friendly of the summer.
Ollie Watkins broke the deadlock in the first period after making amends for missing a penalty early on, before John McGinn came off the bench to score a stunner in the second half. Lazio defender Mario Gila then scored an own goal later in the second half.

Opponents Lazio will play Champions League football next season after finishing in second position in Serie A last term. They gave Villa another good test ahead of what promises to be a busy campaign ahead, with the club's final friendly coming against La Liga side Valencia on Saturday.

Aston Villa receive 'winning the lot' response after win over Lazio
Aston Villa have sealed another win in pre-season after defeating Italian side Lazio 3-0 at the Bescot Stadium.
Ollie Watkins scored the opening goal after being denied from the spot by the Lazio keeper Ivan Provedel. John McGinn then added a second with a stunner in the second half as he came off the bench.
Villa dominated throughout and the result was settled after defender Mario Gila scored an own goal. Lazio, who finished as runners up in Serie A, will compete in the Champions League next season.

Ezri Konsa outlines ‘slightly different’ Unai Emery tactic Aston Villa are working on
Aston Villa centre-back Ezri Konsa has said that the team are still working on aspects of Unai Emery’s style that will be used in the new season.
The Spanish manager arrived at Villa Park last season, and had an immediate impact at the club. He took them from looking over their shoulder towards relegation to qualifying for European football.
A seventh placed finish last season means that Villa will compete in the Europa Conference League in the upcoming campaign. Preparation for the season is well underway, with Villa taking part in the Premier League Super Series in America.

'Deal closed' for €30m Aston Villa transfer target
Aston Villa are set to miss out on reported target Charles De Ketelaere this summer, with an agreement said to have been reached between AC Milan and Atalanta over the player.
Villa had been credited with an interest in the Belgian this summer, with reports even claiming that they had seen a €25million bid turned down by AC Milan. The Italian giants were said to be looking for a price closer to €30m for the player.
De Ketelaere joined AC Milan last summer after catching the eye with his performances in Belgium for Club Brugge. He has, however, struggled since completing his move to Italy.

Aston Villa could be handed transfer blow as Tyler Adams Leeds United claim emerges
Aston Villa-linked Tyler Adams could reportedly stay at Leeds United despite interest from several teams.
The 24-year-old has been on Villa's radar throughout this summer as was being linked with an exit following Leeds' relegation. Adams has interest from Nottingham Forest, Arsenal, Newcastle and Everton.
The USA international is thought to have a relegation release clause of around £20million as part of his contract at Elland Road. However, TEAMtalk claims that the midfielder is not "agitating for a move away" this summer.

Club set to clarify Italian midfielder's future amid Aston Villa links
Galatasaray star Nicolo Zaniolo's future is set to be clarified soon amid transfer links to Aston Villa.
The 24-year-old has been linked with a move away from the Turkish giants despite only signing from AS Roma earlier this year. Villa along with six other teams including Juventus, AC Milan, Tottenham and Atletico Madrid are said to have contacted Galatasaray over his availability.
The latest update from TuttoMercato claims that his agent has travelled to Turkey and Zaniolo missed their Champions League qualifier with Zalgiris. However boss Okan Buruk insisted his absence was injury related, saying: "Zaniolo felt pain in his groin in the last tactical training, otherwise he would have been in the first XI.

Aston Villa 2023/24 third shirt ‘leaked’
An image of what could be Aston Villa’s 2023/24 third shirt has been ‘leaked’ online as the new season draws closer.
Both the home kit and away kit for the new campaign have been unveiled by the club, with Villa wearing the new white away shirt for the final Premier League Summer Series clash against Brentford on Sunday. The game ended in a 3-3 draw.
The home shirt was released earlier in the summer, with the shirt featuring soundwaves that have been generated from the club’s ‘Allez, Allez, Allez’ chant. All kits this season feature the club’s new front of shirt sponsor BK8.
